Autero Mirror Rectangle Iron

The Autero Mirror Rectangle Iron by Barry Dixon plays with perception in the most understated way. What appears to be a spike driven forcefully through the wall is actually a suspended element, held by a concealed cleat on the back of the frame. This tension between illusion and reality gives the mirror its character. The iron frame is etched with fine detail and finished in burnt wax, a darkened patina that catches light differently depending on the angle of view. The flat mirror itself sits cleanly within this textured surround, neither fighting for attention nor receding entirely.

Mirrors of this scale typically announce themselves. The Autero Mirror Rectangle Iron does something quieter. It reflects what's in front of it while the frame draws the eye downward, the faux spike creating a visual anchor that grounds the composition without claiming the room. In a hallway or above a console, it becomes both functional and subtly sculptural, its iron surface developing character over time as the wax finish ages.
