Casey Brown Box Pen Shell

Currey and Company presents the Casey Brown Box Pen Shell, a small vessel constructed from natural pen shell fragments arranged in an interlocking pattern across its surface. Each piece fits against the next with the precision of a mosaic, creating subtle variation in tone and texture that shifts as light moves across the form. Brass-finished stainless steel rims frame the opening, introducing warmth without competing with the shell's organic character.

The object occupies that useful territory between decorative and functional. Placed on a desk, it might corral loose items, or sit empty as a textural accent among papers and objects. The modest scale makes it an easy addition to a shelf or surface without demanding visual weight. The interplay of cool shell and warm metal feels deliberate rather than ornamental, the kind of restraint that allows surrounding furnishings to breathe.
