Isla Deep Drawer Buffet Onyx Peeled Rattan

The Isla Deep Drawer Buffet catches light differently depending on the angle you approach it, the peeled rattan revealing warm undertones against its onyx finish. This interplay between surface and structure gives the piece a visual quietness that works equally well anchoring a dining room or creating additional surface space in a living area.

Made Goods designed this buffet around the tension between openness and containment. Two loosely woven shelves allow objects to breathe while three deep drawers provide the practical storage that keeps a room from feeling cluttered. The frame itself is wrapped tightly in rattan, creating a unified skin that wraps around slender legs, while denser basket weave reinforcement at the top and drawer fronts grounds the whole composition. Round brass knobs, small in scale, sit flush against the surface without announcing themselves.

In a room with natural light, the rattan develops a quiet presence throughout the day. Styled with ceramics or glassware visible on the open shelves, it reads as both functional and considered. The shallow depth of the drawers makes them useful for linens or table settings rather than bulk storage, which encourages a more intentional relationship with what lives inside. It's the kind of piece that settles into a space rather than demanding attention, becoming more essential the longer you live with it.

*Variations in rattan to be expected.
