Isla Standing Cabinet Smoke Peeled Rattan

The Isla Standing Cabinet draws its quiet authority from the interplay between its tightly wrapped rattan frame and the varied weaves that animate its surfaces. Dense basket work wraps the sides while the doors soften slightly with a looser pattern, creating a subtle visual rhythm that rewards close looking. Smoke peeling deepens the natural grain, giving the piece a weathered warmth that feels neither new nor precious.

Inside, four fixed shelves maintain the cabinet's structural logic. Each shelf edge is finished with the same tightly wrapped natural rattan that outlines the frame, so the interior echoes the exterior's careful proportions. This consistency of detail suggests the piece was conceived as a whole object rather than assembled from parts. The wood beneath the rattan grounds the storage with quiet solidity.

Placed in a room, the cabinet reads as both sculptural and functional. Its vertical proportions and woven surface absorb light differently depending on the hour, shifting from warm honey tones in afternoon sun to deeper shadows as evening settles. The weave pattern breaks up sightlines without feeling fussy, making it a natural anchor for a bedroom or living area where presence matters as much as storage.
