Green Oaks Sconce Natural and Antique Brass

Designed by Jeffrey Alan Marks, the Green Oaks Sconce in Natural Rattan and Antique Brass by Palecek features a woven shade constructed around a core frame with rope detailing that catches light in layers. The natural finish reads warm against walls, neither assertive nor invisible. The antique brass hardware grounds the piece with a subtle patina that deepens over time, creating a quiet conversation between materials.

 Proportion matters here. The shade's scale works in tight corners and above narrow console tables, places where a larger fixture would feel intrusive. Mounted at eye level in a bedroom, it casts a diffused glow that softens without flattening the room. The weave itself becomes texture in low light, casting faint shadows that shift as the sun moves across the wall. Rattan and rope suggest craft without announcing it. The construction feels deliberate, each element chosen for how it ages.

Unlike smooth surfaces that show dust and fingerprints, the woven surface absorbs wear gracefully. After a year, the brass develops a patina that complements the rattan's natural darkening, the two materials moving together rather than against each other. This is a sconce for rooms that don't need to prove anything. It belongs in spaces where materials are allowed to be themselves, where neutral palettes create room for light and shadow to do the work.
